Veth Z-Drive Propulsion

Azimuth drive propulsion which provides high manoeuvrablility as they are "rudder propellers" by which the vessel can also be steered using hydraulic control. This is a Z drive.

A remote mounted V-drive. The engine driveshaft is connected to a Carden shaft which has Hooke's joints. This enables the short shaft to transmit the same torque as a larger one. This system means the engines can be installed "backwards" which is of benefit on planing craft as the engine weight can be placed more aft than if a conventional shaft arrangement was used. The stuffing box in this case is a high speed PSS type seal which is water lubricated.

An interesting technique to paint also the soundproofing of the air filter......

Heavy corrosion in cylinders likely from leaking cylinder head gasket and further exposure during long lay up with cylinder heads removed. Engine is siezed.

Russian built Zvezda M419 Engines on a Hydrofoil. 12cyl v configuration with turbocharger on each bank. Producing 1200hp. Very loud engines.

Yacht Engine Room with MTU 12V 2000 engines.

MTU modules burnt from short circuit after water leaking into wheelhouse console.
