Sailboat Standing Rigging Deficiencies

One wire is broken at point of entry into the swage terminal. This wire must be condemned along with the rest of the rigging of same age.

Cotter Pin of split pin type is not opened to secure it and is ready to fall out. This means the Clevis Pin will no longer be secured and will eventually fall out. With a fractional rig, loss of one shroud is likely to mean you will lose the entire rig. Just because of one cotter pin!!!! check them all please.

Backstay Chainplate. Machine Screws showing signs of crevice corrosion to threads. This is likely not superficial. To be replaced.

Swage Terminals banana shaped

Same as above. Swage Terminals with unusually distinct swaging marks. These have been made with an inadequate machine using too many passes and with each pass embrittling the steel.
