_Yacht Surveyor

Experience

  Nationality British, Born Liverpool 1974

I joined Overseas Maritime, a prominent Marine Survey practice based in Piraeus, Greece as apprentice surveyor in 1995, still working there today. During my years at Overseas Maritime I had the opportunity to work together with several excellent senior surveyors and learn from them until I was ready to work alone.

After completing my apprenticeship, I started to specialise in yacht surveys and cargo surveys. Sometimes I get to combine the two when I am surveying a cargo of yachts.

In 1995, I participated in the offshore Fastnet yacht race.

In 2008, I decided to pursue some professional development training so I trained at the International Boatbuilding Training College, Lowestoft, gaining a Diploma with merit from the YDSA endorsed Practical Yacht and Small Craft Survey Course. This was an excellent course which improved my abilities and taught me new techniques.

In 2009, I went back to IBTC Lowestoft and trained on the "Introduction to Wooden Boat Surveying" course.

Currently I am progressing the IIMS Diploma in Yacht and Small Craft Surveying in my spare time.

I am a Member of British Marine Surveyors Europe. BMSE surveyors consult each other and share information via a private forum and wiki. This works very well as each surveyor can draw on the collective experience of the group and yacht defects are discussed in order to arrive at the correct conculsion and solution.

With my 14 years of survey experience combined with regular study into regulations, defects, repairs and maintenance I believe I can offer you a quality service which is completely independent and unbiased.
