_Yacht Surveyor

Pre-Purchase Survey

I do not do walk through surveys or brief reports. I like to spend enough time on board to make a very detailed inspection. Then I will spend several days to produce the report. I am very interested in your safety on the seas and that you do not purchase a yacht without having as much information as possible in hand.

The survey will examine the condition of the following items, where applicable :

  1. Keel
  2. Hull below Waterline

  6. Cockpit
  7. Hull to Deck Join

  10. Stern Gear
  11. Cathodic Protection

  19. Spars
  20. Standing Rigging
  21. Running Rigging
  22. Sails and Covers
  23. Navigation Lights
  24. Bilge Pumping Arrangements
  25. Fire-Fighting Equipment
  26. Lifesaving and Emergency Equipment
  27. Engine and Machinery Installation

  30. Gas Installation
  31. Fresh Water Tanks and Delivery

  33. Electrical Installation - 12v, 24v, 220-240v
  34. Electronic and Navigational Equipment
  35. Heating, Refrigeration and Aircondition Systems

For GRP yachts the survey will include moisture testing. I have good knowledge and experience of GRP defects.

  The Report

The report will be delivered by email as a PDF file and will be 15-20 pages text and about 50 pages of photographs (2 per page with captions). Usually it is ready 2-3 days after the survey.

  Sample Report

If you are considering to appoint me, please ask for a sample report. Comparing sample reports is the only way to choose a surveyor.
